Bill has been teaching me remotely via FaceTime for seven months. Prior to this, I'd never had a guitar tutor, and had plonked away for years with no real progress. My playing has come on leaps and bounds. It's Bill himself that really makes the lessons worthwhile of course - he's very patient, articulate, hugely encouraging and very talented!
When lockdown kicked in during March 2020, at the age of 43, I decided to bite the bullet and try to learn the guitar, which has been a lifelong ambition of mine. There are so many guitar tuition videos on YouTube but I wanted to source an experienced teacher locally. Bill Higgins came recommended from a friend so I made contact. With the minimum of fuss, Bill added me to his list of students. Over the last 12 months I have thoroughly enjoyed my weekly lessons with Bill. He took the time to get to know me first, assess my abilities and identify what my goals were. He has tailored lessons in such a way that I have been learning new skills regularly at the same time as learning songs of my own choice. Bill has also introduced me to new songs and techniques. I appreciate that I have only just scratched the surface of what is possible with a guitar, but at no point has Bill made me feel inadequate or incompetent. In fact, quite the opposite - he is encouraging and complimentary on a regular basis. He is also exceptionally patient when I am clearly doing something contrary to what he has just explained. Most importantly, I have gained a friend who is genuinely interested in helping me to reach my potential. If you are thinking about guitar lessons, I would have no hesitation in recommending Bill Higgins. Years of experience and expertise available to improve your playing in a short space of time.Moreexpand_more
Our son (11) has been attending lessons with Bill since he was 6 years old. This past year, lessons have been an ‘online’ live and interactive video session. These have worked fantastically and definitely have the advantage of being in the comfort of your own home- Oliver receives the same calm, professional and inspiring lessons- and I don’t even need to drive anywhere! Bill sends sheet music, notes and his own video tutorials in advance of each lesson, and as always, gives him free choice of music and genres to play, along with suggested pieces to learn which are always pitched perfectly for enjoyment and challenge. His playing has come on so much this past year. .
I attended guitar lessons for about a year while I was in Dundee and I would highly recommend Bill. He is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and patient. The lessons were always relaxed. Bill encouraged me to learn songs that I enjoyed and would always draw out the arrangement so that I had something to take away from each lesson for further practice. If you are looking to learn guitar then I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Bill.
As an almost complete beginner I went to Bill for guitar lessons for a few months and it made all the difference. Bill is a patient and afffable tutor who was able to provide a flexible framework for me to learn rhythmn and strumming patterns until finally it 'clicked' and fell into place. I cannot recommend him highly enough! Andy Scott, Broughty Ferry.
I have only been going to guitar lessons with Bill for a few weeks but i'm really enjoying the half hour sessions. I find it difficult to make a regular weekly commitment due to my shift patterns and Bill has been extremely understanding and accommodating. He very quickly got to grips with what stage I am at with my guitar playing and helped me to decide how to get the most from my lessons. Bill is alternating each week between helping me learn the songs I really want to play and working through the RGT electric guitar tuition series. Bill is very encouraging and easy to speak to. As an intermediate guitar player I decided to seek some lessons and found out about Bill Higgins Guitar Studio. I was made to feel very welcome and after a free session to find out where I was at musically we arranged some lessons and I haven't looked back. In less than three months my playing has improved greatly and I get exact tuition in what I ask to be taught. Cannot recommend Bill enough.
Been going to Bill for a about six weeks now i am a mature student and was worried about making a fool of myself. But on meting Bill all was ok as he made me feel relaxed . Things are coming along nicely and i am very please with my progress. X . FACTOR HERE I COME LOL.
My son is a 7-year old boy who have been learning playing guitar with Bill for a couple of months. Every time I bring my son to his studio and stay there for the whole session so I know exactly what's going on with every lesson. I found Bill is not only a professional guitar musician but also a very excellent teacher having lots of experience and skills to teach to a child without any guitar knowledge except his interest. More importantly, Bill makes key notes and diagrams during his teaching which can be brought back home for children to practise on. Bill is also very warm-hearted, patient and punctual. I would have no hesitations to recommend you to choose Bill as the tutor if your child(ren) are interested in guitar.
I have been taking guitar lessons from Bill for a few months and due to his teaching methods feel my playing has come on a great deal. Bill has an easy going manner which creates a relaxing learning environment and is patient in ensuring his teaching point has been fully understood. I always enjoy the lesson. The only downside is it is over all too quick, however there is always the next lesson to look forward to.
An excellent guitar teacher, Bill taught me to play the guitar way beyond what i thought i was capable of. The one-on-one lessons were always at my own pace, and were both easy to understand and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend Bill if you want to learn to play the guitar well. 5 stars.
I have been a student of Bill's for approximately 6 years, and he has taken me from not being able to play at all to being a competent guitarist. I have found that learning has been an enjoyable and positive experience. And to this day I am still learning much from this vastly expierenced tutor, and all at my own pace and in my own way. The classes are enjoyable and to the point - no messing, no fuss. Bill will ask you when you first start " do you want to be a strummer or do you want to learn to play properly" I urge you to take the second option you wont regret it. I have recommended Bill to many people, and any that I have met again have always been full of praise for his efforts in getting a son or daughter through their school music exams or even an old timer like me who just fancied giving it a try 6 years ago and still enjoying it. Regardless of your level of competence Bill will improve your skill levels and you will have fun doing it, ta very much for the last 6 years here's to many more! Alan Boylan, Dundee.
