DENTIST I went to the dentist yesterday, its my 2nd trip and first for treatment. Now anyone who knows me knows I'm terrified of any dental work being done. Well let me tell you I have found the most wonderful, kind and caring dentist ever. Mike Powell is my new, and highly recommended, Dentist of Briercliffe Road Dental Surgery. Mr Powell is the most gentle, kind and caring dentist I've ever been to or heard about. He is a gentle man, with the most reassuring approach. Anyone, who is even slightly nervous, but particularly if, like me, are terrified, then Mike Powell is the guy to go to. An added bonus is all his staff are the same. If there was anything else to add I can say the experience is very warm and welcoming, The surgery premises are second to none and added to this, if you're treatment plan allows there is always a coffee available whilst you wait.Moreexpand_more

I've just been back for my 6 monthly check up, nothing unusual in that you may think, however the previous visit was the first to a dentist in over 25 years. I have a terrible phobia and contacted the practice after seeing they specialise in nervous patients. Right from my first telephone call to the surgery and subsequent visits they made me feel so welcome and took so much time to build up my confidence, every single member of the staff make you feel so comfortable and explain every procedure, there is no need to panic over fillings - the Magic Wand is amazing! Mike along with Bridget have an exceptional team, I really can't thank all of them enough!

The staff are wonderful and always make me feel at home. They are so lovely I actually look forward to going to the dentists and appreciate things being explained to me. E. G. Any problems with my teeth or what they are going to do next from scaling to polishing. They always have a smile on their face and I know I am in good hands when I go in :).

A tooth extraction and a replacement filling but in white this time, after four years of not visiting him ( opps ) but carried out in a very professional, safe, clean and happy environment. Any one thinking about having work done but is nervous or unsure, I would HIGHLY recommend a visit here. From the lovely warm welcome in reception, to a very informative, caring Mike who will carry out all the neccessary treament to ensure you leave happy.

You will be treated by a friendly professional team with care and courtesy who will ensure you understand every aspect of your treatment and put you at ease. I had a bridge done which meant several appointments over about 3 months. The cost did seem a bit of a shock to start with but having seen the amount of work involved, I can understand it now. Everything was arranged very efficiently I am very pleased with the end result. Dr Powell is used to my rather cowardly ways now and is always very patient, and all the staff are polite and friendly. What a fantastic Practice! After having a phobia of Dentists for over 50 years I was forced to visit the dentist as an emergency patient after suffering chronic toothache. I needn't have worried. The care, patience and professionalism I received from Mike and the staff was second to none. So much so that I am now a regular patient there and have now lost my phobia of dentists. What wonderful people. They make me feel like one of the family. This really is a wonderful dental practice, they are always prompt with appointments, and fully involve me with all discussions surrounding my dental care. The dentist's work is brilliant, as painless as possible and is a very professional dental practice, all of the reception, nursing and dental staff are lovely and very helpful. I have been a patient at BRDP for five years. All my experiences have been good, including a few more complicated procedures. I am completely at ease and have the utmost confidence in Mike and Briget. The last two treatments have involved the 'wand' anaesthetic which is a brilliant invention. An hours treatment yesterday, including use of the wand was completely pain free……and I mean completely! An excellent, friendly and very professional dental practice in every respect.

Been going to Mike and his team for nearly 20 years so I have seen the dental practice evolve over the years into a very modern practice with a very friendly and helpful team. When I had my children I did not hesitate in getting them on board with the practice - thank you Briercliffe Road Dental Practice for looking after us over this period of time.

I am a nervous patient and explained the problems I have, this was ignored and went ahead and carelessly put the X-ray device in my mouth so that I heaved. Two fillings and the use of the "virtually pain free wand was as painful as regular injections and a feeling of electric shock to wich I was told no idea why that happened. My toungue was cut with the drill and and received a off hand apology. The treatment was very rough. Considering I payed for private treatment and that they specialised in nervous patients the whole experience was appalling.

Superb service from an extremely friendly and efficient team. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Powell to all my friends and family.

I wish we'd known about Briercliffe years ago. The staff have shown so much kindness and professionalism towards my very lively son and I feel confident that they will give him the dental care he deserves, which previous private and nhs dentists have failed to. However, the icing on the cake was the filling I had today using the 'wand' anaesthetic. Completely and utterly painless with hardly any numbness afterwards. A huge metal filling was removed and replaced with a lovely white one and I felt NOTHING! Am even considering having the others replaced even though there's no dental need (would just look nice! ) and I would never have imagined planning non essential dental care. I would recommend Mike and his team to anyone, but especially to anyone who finds dental treatment a little bit scary and anyone with a child who can be a bit of a handful at the dentist.

I spent a fair few hours in Mike Powell`s Dental Chair this summer. His brief was to make my mouth healthy and restore my front teeth in particular, which he did with great skill using veneers and crowns. Thank you to all staff from Reception to Hygienist who supported me through the process and, as promised, on 31st August 2013 I celebrated my Anniversary with family and close friends with a Golden Wedding Smile. I've been very impressed indeed with this dental practice. I've always been a nervous patient but my recent treatment with Mike and Bridget has been stress- and pain-free. I like the onus on education and prevention, and the fact that data is kept and analysed to help patients improve their oral health. For the first time I feel I really understand what I need to do to achieve this. The staff members are encouraging, caring and gentle. They take a lot of time to listen as well as advise. And their use of 'The Wand' anaesthetic delivery system means no injections are needed. Just magic!

Having just concluded 3 months of almost weekly treatment, I feel well qualified to give an honest and comprehensive opinion as to the level of service you and your team provide to their patients. I am almost 70 years of age and have attended National Health Dentists regularly for at least 30 Years. I do not know why, but for the past 10 years or so, at my 6 monthly checks, I was continually advised that my teeth were stable and to the required standard despite it being obvious that they were deteriorating. Following my last check, in November, and despite the usual assurances and explanations, I became concerned that my bottom front teeth, in particular, looked to be close to collapsing and my top front teeth were chipped, cracked and unsightly! I asked around and searched the Internet and came to the fortuitous conclusion that I should visit Briarcliffe Road Dental Clinic and get a feel for the people working there, their attitudes and experience. What I found was daylight at the end of the tunnel for me. All the Team were focused, committed, professional, approachable and pleasant, with Mike Powell obviously well capable of providing knowledgable, competent and professional leadership. So I made the decision to undertake an agreed course of treatments to equip me with strong, serviceable and visibly good teeth! The discussed and agreed work involved has been carried out exactly as described, using modern equipment, with a minimum of fuss and no discomfort. Visited this dentist whilst needing urgent treatment for a tooth that was waiting to be removed by the hospital. After a free consultation and discussion, I was booked back in without a couple of days just before Christmas. I am the most scared and nervous patient you can get. They gave me tons of support and advice before and after the treatment, and it really couldn't have gone any better. I have since had a large filling with them and I have more fillings, root canal and I hygienist visit booked in for the new year. They really made me feel at ease and I'm hoping I can finally have my teeth feeling better again! Highly recommended!

The work completed after consultation to decide the route that was best for me to improve my smile was tooth reshaping, white fillings and porcelain veneers. I'm absolutely more than happy with the completed treatment which far exceeded my expectations. Visual mockups that Helen produced showed me exactly what the finished result would look like before treatment began which was incredible and motivating. Thanks to Dr Powell, and the rest of the Briercliffe team I no longer have to hide my smile. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. The dentist its self is very modern and an ideal place to put your mind at ease. Again thank you so much for the work completed, I'm still smiling about it now!

This dental practice has changed the way I feel about dental care forever. The staff are amazing and the level of treatment and care are outstanding. As a very scared nervous patient who put off visiting a dentist for 5 years it has changed my life and my teeth feel and look like they've been given a second chance. I can highly recommend this place to anybody worried or slightly concerned about having treatment. They are so knowledgable too and always willing to answer any questions or discuss any worries you may have concerning your treatment.
