DB Design and Draughting Ltd provides architectural services and planning consultancy to clients throughout the north east. Dave Barratt, Director, has many years of experience in the construction, design and consultation profession, working on residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

The firm provides businesses and individuals with a professional design service, package of drawings and advice and operates from a local office utilising the latest CAD and analysis software. The company allows clients peace of mind by providing a comprehensive professional design service, from inception to completion, by working closely with structural design partners and a select team of builders. The service is designed to fulfil all the requirements of the client, as well as meeting all statutory requirements, every time.

The limited company is owned by Dave Barratt who has been involved in construction and design for many years. Dave gained a degree in Construction Management at Northumbria University in 2003. He has previously been employed in various roles by a number of design consultants including Royal Haskoning, Jacobs, Waterman Aspen and WSP, as well as working for the main contractor, Bouygues TP on the design and build of the new Tyne Tunnel.

Today the majority of the workload that DB Design and Draughting undertakes is the design of residential extensions and the submission of the planning applications on behalf of private homeowners. A typical project involves a visit to the client's home to discuss proposals and feasibility, as well as any planning permissions that may be required, followed by a site measure, a fee proposal and the production of the existing and proposed drawings. We then agree a final set of drawings and manage the planning application process for the client, keeping them updated throughout. There is typically a turn around of 2-3 weeks from initial call and measure, to submission of plans. Upon planning approval, we can then supply structural calculations and offer quotations from a select team of Builders we closely work with, should a client not already have their own builder in place.
