When my 14 year old daughter asked if she could have guitar lessons, I needed to find a teacher who shared her passion for rock music, was trustworthy and was also a fantastic musician. I have known Ed for over 30 years and knew he would be a perfect match. The lessons have been a hit from day one. They are tailored to my daughter's musical tastes and have really provided structure to her practice. Ed's teaching style make lessons enjoyable and have improved my daughters playing by huge amount over the last 6 months. I would recommend Ed to guitarists at any level who want to improve their playing.
Ed has been brilliant! I was looking to start learning the guitar, but with a busy life work, family, friends I was conscious that it may be tough To find the time, but Ed has been super helpful and super flexible with lessons and I am very much enjoying and feeling real improvement after just three months!
After deciding to start playing the guitar late in life I contacted Ed for one to one lessons. The lessons are tailored around personal ability and after a few months have picked up skills and playing songs that I always thought were out of my technical ability. Great teacher with lots of patience!
I'm in my 40s and decided to learn guitar this year. It's been on my list for a while. After using various YouTube videos I decided to get more formal lessons. I found Ed locally and our lessons together can fit around work/life responsibilities which come with age. We work through various popular pieces picking up the requirements for various rhythm / chord positions / riff work and more. It's early days, but the coaching, direction and support is what I need to progress, without feeling intimidated that I was too old to start etc.
I'm a lapsed self taught player who after a 20 year break wanted to start playing again. I found Ed from some reviews and decided to sign up. I'm very glad I did. Ed has the patience of a saint and teaches with no judgement. He creates a great environment to learn (and fail! ) in and takes the time to explain the improvements I should make and how I can practice better. He took the time to understand my goals and was able to assess where I needed to improve and has come up with lessons to do just that. I'd highly recommend Ed to any guitarist of any level.
I am a 10-month beginner guitarist who has been having guitar lessons with Edward Box at Jesmond, Newcastle for the past 5 months. What I can mainly say, is that if you want to get serious about learning and improving at guitar in whichever genre, I can't imagine anyone more qualified than Ed based on my time with him so far. I have found his one-to-one tuition to be extremely beneficial to my playing; not only from the tailored guidance he gives, but also from introducing me to a wide array of skill-appropriate and fun songs that I would not have otherwise approached on my own. Ed's tailored teaching approach means that what you're doing each lesson is always aligned to your personal goals and interests, where it is ultimately about getting you to where you want to be with the guitar. His lesson plan is structured in a manner that accounts for where you're at and which areas to cover next in the following session, meaning there is a nice flow of relevant new material to always be working on that you know is putting you on the path to getting better. On top of this, I have simply found Ed to be very personable and patient, showing a great level of enthuisiasm and willingness in what he does that has made for a really enjoyable learning experience as a whole. Overall, an exceptionally talented guitar instructor with much knowledge and experience to give and whom I highly look forward to continuing my lessons with. Couldn't recommend more highly.
I can myself say to anyone who is serious about learning guitar, Edward Box is the guy you need to contact, he has so much knowledge, passion and experience it shows, I was blown away just how much I'd learnt in my first lesson with Eddie. His one to one instructive session's are tailored around you! So if your reading this review and have a passion for the axe go check him out. .
I have only had a handful of lessons with Ed, however I have found them informative and enjoyable. Having had lessons elsewhere in the past and not clicked with the methods, Ed listens to what you want to achieve and paces his lessons well. Most importantly they are fun, and he has really helped me develop in a short period of time.
Ed, is an exceptional guy. His ability, to guide you (upon, whatever level, you are)…. Is perfect! Whether, it be Rock / Blues, etc…. His knowledge and execution, of ideas / techniques, are second to none. Ed is a very patient guy, who will help you…. Whatever, your playing ability, may be…. In a few lessons, he has enhanced my techniques, already…. I’m so pleased, I found his guidance!
For the past five weeks, I've had the pleasure of studying and learning guitar with Edward Box in Jesmond, and it's been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the outset, Ed's patience and understanding have been exemplary. He creates an environment where it's not only okay to fail but encouraged as a part of the learning process. This approach has allowed me to tackle challenges with confidence, knowing that Ed is there to guide me through every step of the way. What sets Ed apart is his personalized teaching style. He takes the time to get to know his students beyond just their musical aspirations. By understanding my interests, hobbies, and personality, Ed tailors his lessons to ensure they're not just about mastering the guitar but also about enjoying the journey. This personal touch has made the learning experience much more enjoyable and comfortable, especially when I make mistakes – there's no judgment, only support and encouragement. Each week, I'm given homework based on what we've covered in our lessons. Ed is mindful of the fact that life can get busy, and he accommodates this by structuring the homework in a way that fits into my schedule. This structured approach has been instrumental in my development as a player, allowing me to progress steadily without feeling overwhelmed by the demands of practice. In summary, my five weeks of learning with Ed have been nothing short of fantastic. I've made significant progress, thanks to his dedication and expertise. I'm excited about the journey ahead and look forward to continuing my musical education under Ed's guidance. If you're looking for a patient, understanding, and highly skilled guitar instructor, look no further than Edward Box in Jesmond.Moreexpand_more
I’ve been having lessons with Ed for the last few weeks and I’ve already started to see improvements in my playing. His lessons are enjoyable but rewarding and they always seem fly by. He has made a big effort to work around my scheduling to help fit in as many lessons as possible. I look forward to seeing my progress in the months to come. Highly recommend Ed for anyone looking to improve with the guitar.
"This one goes up to six". (I hope you've seen Spinal Tap. ) Seriously, I would give Ed six stars. Excellent teacher, very easy going, clearly knows how to keep students motivated and advancing well. Oh, he's also a really nice guy. I'm an adult learner, but I have no doubt his manner and method would be just as effective with young learners.
