I think Jake’s style of teaching and flexibility with lessons has definitely helped improve on my understanding of the instrument. Whether you’re looking to improve your technique, theory knowledge or overall musicianship, he’s able to help you with it. I wouldn’t be the guitarist I am now without his support.

I’ve been taking lessons with Jake for over a year and a half and couldn’t be happier with my progress. Jake has helped to hugely improve my technique and address lots of the bad habits I picked up as a “self-taught” guitarist. Through lessons with him I’ve gained much more confidence as a player, have greatly expanded my knowledge of music theory and songwriting and have been able to learn songs that I’d always written off as too fast or difficult for me. He’s an extremely patient teacher who strikes a good balance between following my interests and suggesting areas of focus that he thinks I’ll benefit from. I’ve had both online and in-person lessons with him and can strongly recommend both.

I've really enjoyed having Jake as my guitar teacher for about 2. 5 years now. Although I'm not naturally musical, I'm way beyond the point I ever thought I'd be of just wanting to be able to play a few songs I liked. He's patient but pushes you, he picks up on mistakes but never overwhelms by listing a catalogue of problems and just focusses on the biggest issue at that time, and he's got an uncanny knack of teaching songs that I like. Highly recommended.

I would absolutely recommend Jake as a guitar teacher. I have had lessons with him now for 16 months. The first 6 months were in person lessons and the other 10 months were via skype. I was apprehensive about moving to virtual lessons, but they have been brilliant and we haven't had any issues since moving to online lessons. Jake is very patient and enthusiastic would definitely recommend.

After a few years of trying to teach myself the basics, I finally decided to go for lessons… So glad I did! I learned more in the first few lessons alone than I ever did by myself. I’ve been having lessons with Jake for around a year now so I only had a few lessons in person pre-pandemic. But they transitioned online seamlessly. It has been awesome to be able to keep having lessons this way - great way to keep busy during the lockdowns. Jake is a brilliant teacher, has tonnes of enthusiasm and patience - would recommend to anyone!

My daughter has been having lessons with Jake for about 18 months now. She has made excellent progress through Jake's approach to teaching (not the usual song choice I was expecting). Lessons have continued online during lockdown and have helped keep some sort of stability and fun. Every lesson my daughter comes out with a beaming smile on her face so I know that she's enjoying herself. I would recommend Jake to anyone looking for a patient and talented teacher of the guitar.

I have been learning guitar with Jake for the last 18 months or so and he has helped me go from an absolute beginner with zero experience to being able to play songs which I want to learn. Its been a really good experience and has allowed me to learn how to do something which I had always wanted to try. Lessons were in person up until March 2020 and since then have been virtual via Skype. Jake has invested in equipment such as professional cameras and microphones to be able to provide digital lessons to the same quality and high standard which I was having in person and I have continued to improve my skills during this time. I would highly recommend Jake's services if you are looking to learn guitar!

I have been working under Jake's guidance for slighlty more than a year now, and I couldn't be more satisfied. Jake's approach to teaching is fresh and dynamic, he has the patience required of a great instructor, and always maintains high-quality standards. The learning materials he will provide are excellent and, as you will progress, more and more personalised. Jake seamlessly moved his lessons to an online format (via Skype) setting up everything to match the in-person sessions. As much as one would probably prefer this kind of things to be in person, I'll go as far as to say that nothing of note got lost in the transition and the quality wasn't affected at all. Could not recommend more if you are looking for an experienced and engaging musician to learn from scratch or grow further!

I've been taking lessons from Jake for almost 3 years now, and I'm thoroughly pleased with the progress I've made in that time thanks to him. We've been doing Skype lessons for about 6 months now, which work much better than I expected them to!

I’ve been having lessons for the best part of a year now and can’t praise Jake enough! He’s a fantastic tutor- relaxed and patient but with bags of enthusiasm! He uses prepared songs to teach from so every lesson is fun and interesting- the songs covered are really varied and he’s happy to take requests too. I sometimes need to move my lesson around and he’s as flexible as he possibly can be which I really appreciate.

Jake is a fantastic tutor. He taught me as a complete beginner and gave me loads of confidence to use a guitar. His knowledge and skills are awesome. I would recommend him to anyone. And he's a super great guy, he made it feel like I wasn't paying him to spend time teaching me.

From a complete beginner a few months ago I have made great progress thanks to Jakes guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him as a teacher. Jakes lessons are always well prepared and use modern rock\pop songs to teach various techniques and theories to keep them interesting. Jake is very patient, which is ideal for beginners and is also great at keeping you motivated to keep practicing and playing.

My son absolutely loves his lessons with Jake. I was initially sceptical that my son would make any progress as he had not previously demonstrated any particular musical aptitude. He has however become quickly competent and is growing in confidence. I have been very impressed with Jake and his ability to teach a very distracted and hyperactive 9 year old.

He is by far the best guitar teacher I have had (and I have had many…) He is both a skilled guitar player and a talented teacher and it is not common to find this combination. He is patient, attentive when asked questions and is open to ideas. Jake prepares material ahead of each lesson and he also takes into account my requests and musical interests.

I have been receiving lessons from Jake for the best part of four months. Jake is a very competent teacher, giving relaxed and comfortable lessons. Jake's talent for both teaching and guitar is very evident and the I feel that the lessons are structured around me, teaching me what I need to learn to further my technique as well as songs that I find interesting to play. Jake has been teaching my 10 year old daughter guitar for the past 6 months. He is so patient with her and recognises when she might be loosing interest (her fault, not his! ) and mixes it up, targeting the lesson to her mood and interests. Even when she doesn’t practice, he naturally knows how to get the best out of her and keep her interest going. She has already improved considerably and I know she will continue to do so under Jake’s tutelage. Highly recommended.
