John Clarke Mini and Micro Digger Hire

Requested to dig an area for a new driveway to a depth of 200mm. Received quote on that basis and went ahead with the work. On completion was told that some bits would be a little higher than others, and it would drop further with compacting. This would have been fine but in reality the work had only been done to a depth of 100mm to 150mm. This left me to dig out the remainder myself (see photo)and pay a skip to dispose of the waste. I suggested that John should at least sort the cost of the waste but he has just said it would be a cost to him, seemingly oblivious to the fact it’s now a cost to me through no fault of my own. John is now not responding to messages. Not even allowing for my time, the cost is therefore up 25% to what was agreed, poor value, he has offered no solution to his mistake, poor service, and the work carried out was substandard, poor quality. John Clarke has recently assisted us in taking down some defective garden retaining walls and preparing the ground for new foundations and new walls all of which required a high degree of care and precision being close to our and neighbouring residential properties. As a Chartered Surveyor in the property/construction industry I was very impressed with John’s approach, competence and diligence throughout and will certainly be using him again as we have another project to tackle.

I called John as I needed roots digging out of a huge mound which then needed flattening, also a trench dug out for drains. A day was arranged, John turned up on time and started work immediately, his work is excellent and very precise, I would highly recommend John and will use him again.

John was great, he broke up an old concrete base we needed clearing. Base was tough but John persisted throughout and worked way beyond the hours expected to get it done. John helped us transform our large patch of overgrown land. He managed to dig out all brambles, weeds and even tree stumps. The results were fantastic. John was a hard worker and barely stopped for lunch. He was on time and left later than he planned. John was happy to follow all my instructions to get all the corners cleared, without any fuss. Amazing… have been working on a project myself for over a year, could not see the end of it. John and his machine came out yesterday and have got our land all square and flat. First time I used John Clarke. Arrived on time. Very reliable,70 meter Driveway Dig out. Carefully removed roots near walls, filled 3 skips in no time. Scrapped and levelled surface to my requirements then compacted area ready for next stage. Friendly, professional and will deffo recommend and use again. Not to mention great daily rate. ? .

I asked John to excavate my front garden, which amounted to 50 tonnes, to form a sunken garden including 20m of footings for retaining walls. I also asked him to excavate my back garden, which amounted to 36 tonnes, to form a 3 tier terrace, including 35m of footings for retaining walls. He completed the job both front and back in 3 days. He organised everything including the waggon to remove the rubble. His machine is modern, with plenty of power and is equipped with a very impressive array of tools and attachments, which makes the hardest, most daunting job achievable and ultimately saves you both time and money. While he was here he gave me some very useful advice regarding paving and drainage. His equipment, knowledge and experience are worth paying for, when you add his work ethic and integrity to the mix it is money well spent. On top of that, what a really nice bloke.

John was hired to clear a large area of garden for us. We were very happy with the work. It was completed in a prompt, professional manner. Excellent communication. We will definitely hire John again, he is a credit to his trade.

John came promptly and immediately set to work removing all the tree stumps and unwanted shrubbery in our garden saving us days of work. It was a tight space but he navigated it well and was considerate of the boundary walls, stopping the job when he decided that it would be unsafe to continue without knocking down the wall. His skill and experience are a credit to him and I would definitely use John again.

John removed 36 tons+ of topsoit as well as breaking and removing a large amount of concrete and carrying and droppping several tons of aggregate for an extensive patio project. He was pleasant, helpful and very skilled in dealing with the nooks and crannies in some sections of the project. We are happy to recommend him and indeed will probably use him again in the future. Contacted John today and explained what I needed, unfortunately he was already on his way to another booked job, but asked me to call him back later in the morning to see if he would be able to help. I rang back not expecting him to be available but crossed my fingers. Lady Luck certainly smiled down on me and he said he could help. He arrived and looked at what l required, ( a huge chunk of my front garden and drive digging out in order for me to make it bigger) John took one look and said “I’m going to need my bigger digger, and about 40 minutes later returned with it. He set about work and came across tree root after massive tree root, did this deter him? Not a jot of anything it made him more determined especially when it came to removing the tree stump. I cannot thank him enough for the excellent service and quality of his work and to top it off he’s a really nice guy as well, highly recommend him, but book early as his diary fills up fast.

Called John to help level a large area of garden that was full of building rubbish and had been neglected for some time. After navigating the mini digger down a narrow side alley John did a great job in super quick time, levelling an area that would have taken weeks to do by hand. He also had loads of great advice about my project and even helped with some additional work on the day. Definitely be using him again and would recommend him to anyone needing work done. I booked John to do some extensive levelling in my rear garden, I was so impressed with John's work I booked him to do the front garden too ! John didn't stop until the work was done and to a great standard making the next part of my project easier. John has cleared a huge area of overgrown garden/orchard as well as leveling the entire area. He did it in ~ 1/4 of the time I had been given previous quotes for and much cheaper also.
