We had a very dark red parquet floor which had been covered with carpet and had lots of paint and scratch marks and when we booked to have it sanded. We also had no idea of how it might look at the end of the job. We needn't have worried. Steffan arrived and has transformed our living room and landing. It turned out that the floor is a light maple, the finish is amazing and the whole feel of the ground floor is lighter, brighter and cleaner. He is a real specialist, went into a lot of detail around skirtings and door edges and we could not be happier. Would absolutely recommend!
Had one of their so called experts to sand my solid walnut floor. Next morning I had a good look at the work that had been done. There was dust left on the floor and he vanished over this making the floor rough looking closely he had sanded across the grain making fine scratches over floor. After a phone call they sent another expert to do more damage he again just buffed the floor and lacquered over dust. The floor is worse now than it was when the floor experts moved in. I hope this review will be published but.
I originally gave these guys 2 stars, but I feel the need to downgrade them to 1 star. They use subcontractors to do the actual job, and the job the contractors did was great; I have no issues with the work. So why only 1 star? Well, the administrative and customer service side of this business is atrocious. First the couldn't do the job, then they could, and then they called to cancel the job because another job had over run. Then on the morning of the job (that had been cancelled) the contractor called to tell me he was on his way, which meant I had to rush to the property which is over an hour from where I live. The job itself was estimated to take 2 days, but in the end it took only 5hrs, so that was good. When I asked to have the cost estimate revised, they told me that it would still cost the same. When I questioned how a 2-day job that turned out to be a 5-hr job could cost they same, they offered me a 15% discount. That communication took place by email, but no invoice was issued. I replied stating that I still found it difficult to reconcile how a 5hr job could only cost 15% less than a 2-day job, but that I don't have time to devote to an argument, so I'd pay it anyway. I then received another email threatening "more serious action" and "referral to our debt collection agency" if the matter is not resolved immediately. Seriously? That tone just annoyed me, as did the following up email citing "pressure from accounts and the need to follow a certain procedure". Apparently the procedure is to get heavy handed with customers after a couple of days. I wish I had been able to work directly with the contractors who did the job. I am paying the bill with the pitiful 15% discount just to conclude my dealings with these people, but I have found dealing with them to be amateurish and annoying.Moreexpand_more
Wasted half a day on these people. I received an email informing me that my consultation would take place between 9-10am and when I called shortly after 10, I was told it was an error and should of said 9 - 11am. Then shortly after 11am I called and was informed an urgent message had gone out and I would receive a call soon. A second call at 11:45 and apparently another urgent message was sent out. Having rescheduled my plans around this visit I eventually had to leave without anyone from floor sanding experts arriving. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
My floor was in pretty bad shape and I was hoping at best for a patch up job. The guys did an astonishing job, the floor looks superb. The FSE team worked incredibly hard all day and tidied up as they went. I wholeheartedly recommend Floor Sanding Experts and would use again.
They did an excellent job. They were very friendly and explained all the options in detail (I chose stain and they showed me several options on the first day the work was undertaken on the actual floor), worked quickly (a few days), and the floor looks fantastic. I have no complaints whatsoever and would recommend this company to anyone who is planning to refinish his floor. I worked with Chris btw, nice guy and did a great job.
Amazing job on the our floors - they couldn't have done a better job. Really helpful service too - Royal Mail lost our keys when they sent them back to us and Floor Sanding Experts were really responsive and kindly covered the cost of a new lock. I would highly recommend.
To be frank, I was a bit doubtful about Floor Sanding Experts (in part because I couldn't find them on the trade association whose logo they have on their website; but also because they seeed "too good to be true") and I thought I was taking a risk in engaging them to sand, stain, and polish the floor in our living room. But their estimator seemed a good guy and their quotation was reasonable. So I went ahead. I'm glad I did. They did a good job. The floor was transformed. The sanding and staining even went right up to a small gap with an over-hang. There was no mess. And they gave us "free" felt pads to put under chairs and other furniture, to avoid scratching the floor, and a good cleaning/polishing kit. We were very pleased. The company was efficient. But the real praise and credit goes to the chap who did the work, Miro. Thank you Miro! You are a real asset to your company.Moreexpand_more
The main problem and risk with using this company is that they use subcontractors, which means the people carrying out the work will get the same pay whether the jobs takes 3 days or 3 weeks, so it is in their best interest to finish the job as quickly as possible. They said the work I needed doing, which was sanding and varnishing my entire flat, would take 3-4 days, however, the subcontractors finished the work in 2 days, which is why I believe we had so many problems. When they finished, the floor looked ok, but when the varnish dried, there were about 7 blemishes in the hallway. These blemishes were patches that had not been given enough varnish. I contacted the company and sent images of the problems, so they sent the same subcontractor to fix them. At this point, they had only received the deposit, so they were quite keen to help. The Floor Sanding Experts said it would take around 2 hours to fix the problems, but the worker took just 15 minutes. The floor looked ok when it was wet, but again, when it dried, there was still one part not properly varnished, so the man had to come back again. This time when it dried, the floor looked ok, so I paid the remaining bill. 3 weeks later, I noticed large patches of varnish in the hallway had stared to peel away. I got them to send the worker back and he said it could be a chemical reaction, and that it could be fixed, then he left. However, he told the company that it was paint, and it wasn't their fault. The company then emailed me saying that they would only fix the problem if we payed them £18 per m2, which is unfair as we had paid them £1195 for the work. Now the only way we can get this resolved is by taking legal action. Judging by the reviews, I'm sure The Floor Sanding Experts have some workers that are qualified for the job, but if you are unlucky, like I was, you'll be left with a poor finish and a lot of stress, for that reason you should avoid this company. This is the first time I have ever left a review, of any kind. But I don't want anybody to have the same experience as I did. .Moreexpand_more
We had a really bad experience dealing with this company and would advise to avoid at all costs. There are many other, better floor sanding companies to employ to do your work! They claim to be a member of the Master Carpenters Association - which I am sure they are (as a company), yet the workers they send to do their work are not masters in any form of carpentry - expect of course on how to operate the floor sanding machines. And even this is debatable. They didn't sand the floors fully to the edges, they didn't nail down loose boards, they didn't replace damaged boards (which was discussed in the quote). They didn't even put the finish on evenly so we ended up with a sanded damaged floor with drips in the finish and the finish didn't reach the skirting either. Their attempt at compensation was laughable, when all we wanted was for them to come back and do the job properly.
Complete and utter time wasters. I had an appointment booked with them earlier in the summer and they cancelled 1 minute before they were due to arrive, something about a broken down van. They arranged a rescheduled appointment for the following week but a day before, I got another call to say that the van was still broken down. I was promised a follow up call which I got and told that somebody would be with me on the Saturday. This time nobody showed despite text confirmation. I eventually booked through another company name who it turned out were part of the same group. I was given an appointment between 1-3pm last Saturday. Again, I waited in until 3. 30pm and nobody showed up. Complete and utter joke of a service and time wasters.Moreexpand_more
Original work to sand down and fill in wooden floor boards in the hall way was completed quickly and cleanly with an excellent finish. The problems started when strips of wood that were inserted to fill gaps between floorboards started to lift. They eventually came round to fix them but within weeks they started to lift again, leaving 6" splinters of wood poking out of the floor. I explained that having a 18 month old baby it was imperative that they were fixed as soon as possible as they were potentially lethal. I left numerous messages, sent photos and emails but have had no response at all so I have had to resort to getting another company to fix it. Very poor attitude from Floor Sanding Experts Ltd, disappointing.
Dear FSE, I would like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention the fantastic job that Miro did on our floors. He was very hard working, courteous and tidy, and just got on with his work without a fuss. When he needed to clarify anything he always came to ask us and was very accommodating, and it was obvious that he cared about the quality of his work. He is a true asset to your company and I would recommend him, and your company, highly to anyone that needs their floors done in the future. Please thank him once again for a great job done, and thank you for a professional, prompt, and smooth process in my dealings with your company. " Yours Sincerely. Roo Joshi - London Borough of Ealing.
