About Piano Lessons by Rob
I have experience as a professional musician and private music teacher for the past 40 years. I teach piano, guitar, bass guitar and ukulele. I teach all ages including adults but the student must be old enough to stay focused for 30 minutes. I try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible. I have found that incorporating a students interests into the lesson makes it fun for all. Of course learning to play an instrument isn't all fun as there is a learning curve and practice involved. But if a student is practicing a piece they are excited to learn it makes it more enjoyable even though there are aspects of the learning that takes focus and hard work.
For those students who wish to obtain a highly advanced level in preparation for the exams given by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) I can accommodate this training as well.
I also teach the popular style of playing acoustic or electric guitar. I do not teach the classical style of guitar but focus on the folk and pop style of playing. I have enjoyed playing guitar professionally for 40 years.
I teach and have played the bass guitar as well.
I performed in a jazz trio playing a 5 string electric bass guitar.
More recently, within the past 4 years I began playing the ukulele which I find quite fun. It's very easy to play and for a younger person it's a good introduction to learning the guitar. The neck is small and easy to grip and it's not painful to the finger tips. To the contrary, in learning to play guitar, there's a period where it's a bit painful to your finger tips until you develop calluses. The ukulele has four strings as opposed to a six string guitar. The strings are nylon or plastic and very easy to press down onto the frets of the neck. To purchase a decent quality one it will cost around 150.00 pounds.0 FreeIndex Reviews
