I ordered 3 worktops and 2 matching splashbacks 7 weeks ago totalling just short of £1000 which I paid for the moment I ordered them the indication was they were in stock, a week later I had an email saying that there would be a 3 week wait on the ordered items as I had ordered them in plenty of time I thought ok I received an email approximately 3 weeks later arranging delivery for Friday and that I needed 2 able People to unload on the Thursday I received an email saying only the worktops would be delivered, on the Friday a driver rang me Said he had two worktops for me not 3 so I refused delivery, delivery was arranged twice more and same thing again, on the last delivery I received 3 x worktops and no splashbacks, I rang up and cancelled the 2 splashback and sourced somewhere else only to be charged a delivery charge as the order value was just under the £500. I WOULD NOT DEAL WITH THESE CHANCERS EVER AGAIN THEY ARE AN INTERNET COMPANY AND NOT A WORKTOP COMPANY THEY ARE VERY QUICK TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND VERY BAD AT DELIVERING ON IT.
Response : Reply from Solid Surfaces DirectFirstly we completely share the customers frustration at having to wait so long to receive his items. The customer was kept fully informed that there was a problem with the splashbacks from day one, and that the splashbacks would be approx a three weeks wait, we had to put them on back order with our distributor. We offered to deliver the worktops with the splashbacks to follow. The customer was contacted and said he was happy to proceed and would rather wait for everything to arrive together.
There was also a problem with the breakfast bar.We kept chasing our distributors for a date but were told the stock had not arrived from the manufacturers, as they should have done, again we kept our customer informed.On the 16th of November, we spoke to the customer who said he had sourced a splashback from another company.The order was delivered yesterday 20th November.With regard to the order value. The client was given a free of charge delivery based on the initial cart value being over £500. We spoke to the customer yesterday. The adviser needed to refer this to his Manager who concluded, due to the extremely long wait time a full refund of the Splashbacks, NO delivery charge would be made to the customer.The customer is correct that we are an internet company. We use distributors on behalf of the manufacturers, like most internet companies providing deliveries of Kitchen Worktops and Accessories to the general public. We make this very clear on our website.The customer has also purchased from us previously.In conclusion.We are sorry our customer has had cause to complain, of course, we don’t like to see that.Yes indeed, this was a long lead time however, the customer was kept fully informed throughout the process about the problems and always had the right to cancel if he had wished to do so.Once again our apologies and a full refund for the items will be credited to the customer’s account.Moreexpand_more
