About Stonham Barns Car Boot

Stonham Barns Car Boot is a traditional car boot where people clear lofts and a large number of antique sellers come to buy and sell. Great venue with lots going on from Golf to Fishing, Camping to a Toy Shop. The Car Boot brings the place to life and it's possibly the only car boot where we guarantee that you can set up in peace without be attacked by buyers.

Friendly crowd and if the weathers good it's a great place to be on a Sunday morning. We start at the civilised time of 8am with the shops opening at 10am. You can sell from £6 pounds (cars) up to £12 pounds for large vans. We also have covered market stalls which are also £12 where you don't need to bring a table. You can book these by texting 07817539168.

Visit our website for weekly updates because Stonham often has events and shows in the two showgrounds which guarantee even better crowds. Stonham has permanent toilets, childrens play area and why not come for a few hours as there are many other attractions at Stonham.

The Car Boot starts on April 3rd this year and will be open every Sunday until the end of November. Visit the website for updates or call Simon on 07817539168 where you can also text to book stalls but, don't forget that you can just turn up to sell and, of course, grab a bargain.

Visited this car boot today 24/9/23. Got a few bargains. Nice atmospheres. Plenty of stalls and parking free. Antique shop and lots of other interesting shops. Basically everything you need. However, I think they could afford to have hand dryer in the ladies. Plus the cistern takes so long to fill up that one can't flush it.

I have just logged on and taken a look at the reviews. I am astonished as I can only say that I have only ever had a pleasant experience when visiting. Its quite a trot from Braintree but we will be there again in 2nd week June. I think we should appreciate the efforts made as many boot fairs are closing locally.

Dear o Dear. Stoneham Barns Car boot is still struggling with its reviews it seems. No matter how you dice or slice it, the average review rating is still average. Which was identical to mine several years ago. Which is quite remarkable. You would think that over the course of years it would move one way or the other, but no, it is still average. One other thought; the number of reviews must be indicative of something I would think?

Stacey Hughes - Another bad review for the car boot that has 200 sellers, one way selling aisles, selling on one side only and no entry and one way signs in every aisle. Miss Hughes left at 9am without paying. Everyone else that stayed sold well. No one leaves at 9am at a car boot when it clearly states that it gets going at 9. Read the website and google and see what everyone else says about the car boot. There are only 2 or 3 on in Suffolk so most people are happy it's open but miss hughes didn't stay long enough to find out.

Terrible. Rude store holders, rude staff. No covid measures in place. Hardly anyone there. Would give 0 stars if possible. Avoid!

My review is for Mr Doomstone. We don't ask for reviews nor do we seek them. Yes, we only have a few but who cares. What bothers me is that someone would go to such lengths to belittle our efforts. I run the Car Boot and have no say over who buys or sells. We provide a venue to do both. Can you explain the point you are trying to make? All Car Boots are pretty much the same except we offer a day where you won't be harassed by idiots trying to look in the back of your car. We haven't ever said we are the largest we have said we are the friendliest. Stonham Barns is a good venue for a Car Boot as there are events going on, shops, normal toilets and so much more. So ignore the man with a silly name and decide for yourself. I think we ought to ban people from Holland and maybe we wouldn't get silly reviews. As I said before if you don't like it don't come. But, as you said in your review you have been several times so, it obviously is compelling….You seem to lack a sense of humour. I do not have a problem with Dutch people really nor was I being serious about your name. We don't really care about your review nor your life story. Nor who you are married to. My only problem is that you are condemning a Car Boot that I organise. I cannot choose who sells that and sadly can I choose who walks round. But, all the organisers dotted around do a good job running Car Boots and it's hard work. If you knew the history of Stonham Barns Car Boot you would also know why we don't sell certain things in the food trailer. Either way, if you want to join me at 5:30am on a Sunday Morning then you would understand why I get upset when people knock what is a good and widely enjoyed Car Boot. We are possibly one of only a very small number where you can sell without being harassed. My phone number is on all the adverts - feel free to contact me rather than writing stupid reviews.Moreexpand_more

We have visited this event a few times over the years. We have seen it grow in number of market stalls, but not necessarily in terms of quality in offered goods. In all, we find it very average. If you happen to be near, buy all means, stop and have a pleasant hour roaming around. Just don’t expect anything special. No catering to speak off, other than one little stall offering mediocre coffee. I just got a notification on 4th of November to a reply to my initial message posted in September. Not sure whether it took Stoneham Barns Car Boot all these months to find this site, or their reply was lost on the Internet for several months, but I’m happy to respond, as always. I gave Stonham Barns Car Boot 3/5 rating. That is average, not great, not bad. Plenty of kids/students make it through school/college with such grades. It’s still a pass, so to speak. We are talking about a car boot sale here, not a life changing experience. As I said an hour of pleasant roaming. Nothing less, nothing more. I know some people considerer “instant” coffee “fresh” coffee. I’m not one of them. Wether Nescafe approves, is really of no interest or concern to me. I don’t drink the stuff, period. My review/comment on Stonham Barns Car Boot Facebook page was similar to the above. Just an average review. However, Stonham Barns Car Boot took exception claiming that I had not even visited! At that time there were less then a handful of reviews. And there still are. So whatever Stonham Barns Car Boot does or has on offer, it doesn’t seem to invite a lot of people to write reviews. Which might be an indication that it’s not “great/fantastic/once a lifetime experience. Neither is it “awful/waste of time. Maybe it’s just average? Fine way to spend an hour as I said. Admittedly, my review has a 25% impact on the average, but that can hardly be my fault as I was the four th person ever to leave a review. And again, it’s not a bad review at all, just average. Perfectly fine way to spend an hour if you are in the neighbourhood. Stonham Barns Car Boot claims to be extremely popular and the largest car boot in Suffolk. I have certainly seen it grow over the years and I made a comment as such. Wether it is the largest, I don’t know and I don’t care, because being the ‘largest’ doesn’t mean much perse. Whether it is extremely popular I don’t know either, we have attended several times over the years and there appears to be a good turn out, without it being too busy. Still, with the exception of a handful of punters, including myself, nobody feels compelled to leave cooments/review on social media. My main comments pertained to the quality of the goods on display/for sale. Which is pretty average, stuff being flocked that would otherwise fill up people’s attic/garage. Having grown over the years hasn’t brought a wider variety of goods on display. It’s just more of the same stuff. Updated 29th of MarchI just got another notification this morning. Interesting to see how the guy who is organising the event is reviewing his own event and is giving himself five stars. Also interesting he wants to ban all Dutch people as one Dutch guy, me, has given him a three star rating. We have never met, apart from exchanging a view lines of text on reviews. So the organiser wants to ban any nationality from attending his fair because one foreign individual he never met, gave him a three star rating. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Making fun of peoples name is even more pathetic. Tell me, is that the way the Brexit decision came about? Good luck with your fair. My (British) wife and me might pop around. We have lived in the UK, we have lived in several other countries all over the world, we just happen to be in the Netherlands now. But we still owe some properties in Suffolk so we will be back. One small word of advise, get rid of the instant coffee and get somebody to serve a proper fresh one. I might be wrong, but these days there are Brits who actually do enjoy a proper coffee over instant. Jeroen.Moreexpand_more
Response : Mr Dorrenstein seems to have a problem with me and it upsets me that someone is willing to go to this length to try and stop people going to what is Suffolk's friendliest Car Boot. We aren't the largest in Suffolk but, we can guarantee that anyone can set up and sell without being hassled and no one will try and get into the back of your car. We are also the cheapest to sell at and are the only one that offers Covered Stalls (market stalls) so you don't have to bring a table. We have no space restrictions for sellers and we are extremely popular. Why not make up your own mind rather than make comments about the food stall as he knows that we run that. Again, we haven't had any complaints about that other than the fact that we cook everything from fresh therefore it takes longer than having it sitting around and being available instantly. The coffee and tea are Nescafe and PG Tips so - I don't think they would approve of being called mediocre. As for the stalls and sellers we get a lot of one off sellers and antique sellers so, pretty much the same as other Car Boots. I guess that Mr Dorrestein seems to prefer going to other car boots which I suggest he does as he has the choice. He is also welcome to come and talk to me at the Car Bot as i'm always there. Not sure what I did other than disagree with his review on another site. In spite he has written the same on all the sites. Why not come and judge for yourselves as we have lots of fans and we are growing every year. Finally I may have mentioned it altready but we are the cheapest to sell at at only £5. I haven't had any complaints about that price. Our food trailer is also the cheapest you will find anywhere and the quality of food is rarely beaten. I am a trained chef and have no idea why Mr Dorrestein has done this.Moreexpand_more
