Very impressed with the work done to install a bird exclusion kit to my solar panels by Sustainable Energy Engineering today. Steve was prompt, professional and efficient, leaving everything clean and tidy afterwards. The workmanship and materials are of a high standard and the price was very competitive compared to quotes from other companies. Would definitely recommend Sustainable Energy Engineering Ltd to others.
Supplied and fitted a bird exclusion kit to our solar panel. In doing so discovered a fault on system caused by the negligence of the installation company. This company went over and above to investigate and correct this fault in their own time without any further charge. They do an excellent job with outstanding customer service and we would highly recommend them to anyone.
I left it pretty late in the day (Late December 2015) to decide that I was going to install Solar PV. The FIT was changing early 2016 and I'd screwed up by not planning ahead. This put me in a bit of a tricky position. If I wanted to install and register the system in time to qualify for the current FIT I'd have to be quick. I was concerned that I'd be at the mercy of some fly by night that would wind up once the FIT scheme reduced, leaving me with a dodgy installation and months of my time trying to sort it out. I called two companies, one didn't respond, but the other did. So, no competition and a desperate client with a looming deadline. I thought here we go, I'd better re-mortgage the house. Steve, the owner of Sustainable Energy Engineering, came to the house during the Christmas break and gave me a quote. It was for a 4KW system with an I-boost, which directs excess energy to the immersion heater on the hot water tank to provide free domestic hot water. The price was lower than I expected and he could do the work enabling me to register the installation prior to the deadline. I did all of the usual checks, VAT registration, companies house and online reviews and it all came back positive. Steve started work on the 6th January, a horrible dank day. The installation was complete on the 8th. No drama Steve and the lads just got on with it. So next dilemma, what do I do with the extra energy that I'm generating but not using? The FIT assumes that you'll export 50% of what you generate and you get paid on that basis regardless of what you self consume. I decided on an Elios4you system. I know it sounds pretty Micky Mouse but this thing plugs into my consumer unit and monitors import, export, generation and consumption. In addition the system communicates with wireless plugs / switches and turns them on and off based upon what your exporting. Steve suggested that I look into Far Infrared heating panels for use with the system. I bought one to trial. Worked so well I bought another three covering the main areas of the house. These things heat objects rather than air and slowly release the heat over time. Similar effect as storage heaters. The bonus being they only switch on when there's excess solar energy, unless you programme the system otherwise. The Verdict? The system, in my opinion is great. My self-consumption is currently at 86%. On a reasonably sunny day I get a full tank of domestic hot water and the house is warm enough that I don't have to use the central heating when we get back from work. My combined gas and electric charge has reduced by 30%. I think this setup will work best during spring and autumn when it's cold but we still get reasonably sunny days. Now to work out the summer setup….Moreexpand_more
I have recently had a Solar Panel System fitted to our home. From the initial visit for a quotation to work completion Steve and his team were very professional through the job. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sustainable Energy Engineering to anyone. What's more I will see a return on my investment within 6 years. Many thanks to SSE, Steve and the team. We first contacted Sustainable Energy in June 2011 having had several quotes/visits from other companies. The most noticeable thing was that Steve, also by his own admission, was not a salesman and, unlike the other companies, was very knowledgable about the product and the solar process. Throughout, the service provided by the company was impeccable - questions were raised and answered by return in an easy to understand format and discussions were held relating to the most suitable manufactured panels/invertors, so guiding us to the final choice. No pressure was ever applied. The installation was completed within the time scale quoted and the work was of a high standard. The following morning there was a problem with the house alarm caused by the invertor but Steve quickly rectified this the same day. I would not hestitate in recommending Sustainable Energy for their knowledge, unbiased recommendations and the high standard of their work.
I had 3. 5kw solar system installed in February and can only complement Steve Fairless and his employees (from administration to installation) for the very professional job from start to finish. Even through a poor year of weather I have realised a tidy amount in FIT payments. I would recommend this company for solar power installation. K. Balfour Pity Me, Durham.
We had a 4Kw PV Solar system installed in November 2011 and from the first meeting with Steve to the final handover on completion it was a friendly, professional and efficient service. The installed system has exceeded the estimated electricity generation and hence income, even in a poor summer. I would highly recommend Steve and his company as I am sure that he will operate as professionally on all his work whilst also remaining friendly and polite.
